Privacy policy

We collect account details such as your name, email address, sign-in provider, optional profile image, English level, and learning preferences.

When you use live practice, we process voice recordings and transcripts, conversation settings, feedback, vocabulary, and practice history. We also process device identifiers, IP address, browser or device details, and service logs to protect accounts and operate the service.

For billing, we store subscription identifiers, plan, status, and usage. Apple processes payment details for iOS purchases. Stripe processes payment details for web purchases; YapNow does not store full card numbers.

We use this information to authenticate you, provide live English practice, create feedback and vocabulary exercises, save your progress, manage paid access, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and maintain service reliability.

We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Live audio, transcripts, and conversation context are shared with third-party AI services only to provide the features you request. YapNow currently uses Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (DashScope/Qwen) for real-time voice conversation and Google Gemini for feedback, definitions, generated practice content, and speech processing.

Before your first live practice, YapNow asks for explicit permission to share this data with third-party AI services. You can withdraw AI and voice consent in Settings. If you withdraw consent, features that need this processing will remain unavailable until you consent again.

Cloudflare hosts our application, database, object storage, security controls, and email delivery. Apple and Google provide optional sign-in. Apple manages iOS subscriptions, and Stripe manages web subscriptions. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices while supporting YapNow.

Account and learning data is kept while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Security and transaction records may be retained when required for fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, or law.

You can delete your account in the app or from your account page on the web. Account deletion removes your profile, conversations, stored recordings, transcripts, and learning history from YapNow's active systems. It does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription; manage that subscription through Apple before or after deletion.

You can update profile details and withdraw voice and AI consent in the app. You can delete your account in the app or on the web. You can also ask for help with access, correction, or deletion requests.
